Joseph Lancaster founded Brevitax after nearly a decade and a half inside the tax resolution industry — not studying it from the outside, but operating inside firms where managers rebuilt reality by hand from transcripts, notices, and staff memory.
Before tax resolution, he spent twenty years in high technology — building software and systems at scale. Brevitax is built for purpose: apply that engineering discipline to a problem he watched firms and households struggle with for years.
He watched households pay for opacity: hours on hold with the IRS, retainers before anyone showed the account, and advice that could not be checked against source records. He watched good firms compensate for weak software — exporting data to spreadsheets simply to understand how a case was developing.
Brevitax is the consumer and professional-facing expression of software built to reconstruct taxpayer reality from IRS evidence first. The goal is the same: make what is true visible while there is still time to act on it — whether you are handling the account yourself, with family, or with a licensed professional.
